Description

Well, as a desperate plea to the editors to bring back the Fan Art section into the UK Official Nintendo Magazine, this is the first of 3 Legendary 1st Gen Pokémon I am creating on my Graphics tablet and Photoshop 7.0.

This is *not* a final piece. Just one section (sorry for the rubbishy background!)
The final piece will consist of Articuno, Zapdos and Moltres.
I've been working on this about 15 hours, and it's far from complete yet. Hopefully, I should finish it sometime next week. I haven't really got that much to do on it now.

Photoshop sketch and colours/detail from scratch. I need more practice with Photoshop work! If anymore has any handy tips/tutorials for smooth digital painting, I would greatly appreciate it!!

I will be selling huge prints of this when it all finally comes together.

Comments and contructive criticism welcomed :D

This beautiful piece of an Articuno in flight by tavington is a prime example of using digital media to its fullest extent. The snowflakes and feathers of the wings appear to be made using brushes, but for once it's not distracting. In fact, it adds a new level of dimension and realism to the piece that otherwise might have been lacking. The tail is a little awkward. It looks kind of like it's tied in a knot in one place toward the end. And one of the most unusual aspects of this piece compared to most pieces of Articuno we've seen is that the figure is not this massive majestic figure. Rather it looks more like a petite little sparrow, which gives the piece a cute and delightful twist.
