:star: IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR ARTISTS PERSONALLY AFFECTED :star:

UPDATE. In case you aren't aware, it's London Expo this weekend...

BE VIGILANT.

If you haven't heard from her already, please message ~MissPepperCat as she has information about this man, which could prove very useful should you wish to take this further.

Many thanks to Japan Expo, who have been extremely kind to co-operate and release this information.

:new: NEW INFORMATION :new:

This stall still appears to be selling the work of Bob Dob, *AndyFairhurst ~Vulture34 and *lora-zombie but mirrored and/or altered with effects and filters added.

Please also look at these accounts:

:iconcanvassean: :iconstrech1:

These two accounts are highly connected to this string of events. The first, ~canvassean is the man behind the stall at London Expo, as he claims in his own comments. The second, ~strech1 appears to have made work to sell to ~canvassean
One look around his "gallery" will show you he's not all he appears to be.
These accounts are used in bad form, the latter in particular.

At Manchester Expo, the stall was named ARTY-FARTY-FANART. They handed out flyers this time with an email address to contact them (arty-farty-fanart@gmail.com), but their blurb contained very bad spelling and grammar. If you see this stall at future events, please be aware of it and if you can, notify a member of senior staff.

For your information, the "disclaimer sign" displayed on their stall reads-

"We believe all the Art on display not to
have any copyright issues. If you feel
there is any infringement please provide written evidence and we will act accordingly

arty-farty-fanart@gmail.com"

Just a small update here-

THEIR EMAIL ADDRESS FROM THE FLYER DOESN'T EVEN EXIST

Try entering it on a verification checker, you'll see it is a bad address.

I suggest contacting the seller using this email. It is a current, working email-

artyfartyfanart@gmail.com

This email address is legitimate. (WITHOUT the hyphens)

If there's an image you wish to report, or wish to send out a Cease and Desist to these guys, I suggest you email them there. Get to it, people!

IF YOU SEE THIS MAN EXHIBITING AS A DEALER AT A UK CONVENTION, PLEASE CALL THE OFFICE OF FAIR TRADING IMMEDIATELY

:star:Added even more images to the ever growing list. I am currently in the process of identifying new images, please bear with me while I update the list, thanks for your patience. If you have been affected, please comment below or drop me a note.

:star:Over 40 deviantARTISTs have been notified so far, do you know of any more?:star:

Well, I would have posted a happy journal entry about MCM Expo, but sadly, I feel this is more important.

Please, if I could spare 10 minutes of your time to fave this journal and repost it in your own, I would be forever grateful, thank you...

Please look at these images on my Tumblr account:

This "stall" belongs to a Dealer who exhibited at London Expo this weekend.

Images look familiar? They should. They're all STOLEN.

This guy claims to be the "genius" behind these works of art. Truth is, the majority, if not ALL of them, have been swiped from deviantART, printed on canvas and sold WITHOUT PERMISSION.

This guy is a fraud, a plagiarist, a thief and liar. Why is he even allowed to exhibit at London Expo.

We all need to gather proof that this guy isn't all he claims to be. If you recognise ANY of these images. PLEASE SHARE OR COMMENT BELOW. A lot of these works are by American artists. We need to inform them and put a stop to this.

Please, please share and let a team of us put this right. We need to gather a lot of solid evidence to get this guy thrown out.
He didn't have any business cards (no surprises there) but he's exhibited and sold at London Expo many, many times.

I wrote this deviantART journal to pread the word myself. It would help greatly if you could share your photos here too and we can pool all our evidence in one place and compare photos.

I will update this journal with thumbs of the work seen in these photos as STOLEN. If you know any of the artists, please, please contact them so we can build our case to present to MCM Expo themselves.

:star: There's also a useful video made by the London Expo Comic Village Alliance about the events of the weekend, if you want to give it a look:

~MissPepperCat took some recent photographs of the seller at Japan Expo recently. She also picked up a few more details, too. Many thanks to her.
See if you can spot any new images I don't already have on my list:

That's it for updates right now.
Thank you all for reading.

Yes, the stall was called Arty Farty Fanart. I think I mentioned it in the journal above.

Two people just confirmed that his stall has again been spotted at London MCM Expo last week :S

As the stall was also spotted this weekend in Belgium with a different person manning the stand, I suspect he and his associate split up to cover more ground.

Found another one: the lady on the right in yellow tiger-print bikini with the jaguar background was created in 1999 by Inoue Takuya, a popular hentai artist of those days.
I can't quite link to the original image for that reason, but you would find it on e.g. gelbooru, with Takuya's signature on it.
The jaguar background itself turns out to be from a free online wallpaper, so it would seem the man can photoshop but can't tell tigers apart from jaguars.

And the same goes for the blue bunny girl at the bottom middle with the Playboy logo: The bunny girl art is also one of Inoue Takuya's, and did not originally feature any logo.

Additionally, using the Playboy logo in such way is also in violation of trademark laws, equally liable for a lawsuit.

The image at the bottom right, the girl in red bikini, was drawn by Tony Taka (real name Tanaka Takayuki) and is featured in the artbook “Tony’s ARTworks from Shining World”. Tony Taka is the character designer of SEGA's "Shining Tears/Wind" games and anime series, to which this character belongs.

There is a rather high-res scan of this image online, so I've no doubt where he got it.

I've also seen the Sonic the Hedgehog art in the upper left of the photo at his stand (at F.A.C.T.S. convention 2012 two weeks ago), two copies printed at A3 size. I don't know who the artist is, but I could tell from the skill level that it wasn't an official art.

I didn't go this time round, but some of my mates who went said that they saw not one, but two stalls selling stolen works on canvases. No one knows if they're the same company or completely separate ones, but everyone on the Expo forums is up in arms about it [link] .

Yes, I believe it was the same stall.
As I've been hearing many, many times, Expo aren't getting directly involved with this. Kudos to the person on there putting up a fight, and Expos responses there are a little shabby, it's like simply fobbing someone off by telling them to report it, only to later be told by the same person that reporting it is actually useless.

I could go on and on about this, but from a personal point of view, it's pointless.
The most important thing? The companies who copyright belongs to, are aware of this.
And with Disney recently buying the rights to Marvel and now LucasFilms, perhaps they will look at things more closely.
